Interview with Will Atkinson
    1. Hi there Will, nice having this interview with You, please introduce Yourself to the TranceSound.net community.

Will Atkinson: Hey TranceSound - good to hear from you!

    2. How long You been producing or Djing ?

Will Atkinson: Started mixing when I was about 7 or 8 years old. At 11, I began producing on very simplistic software until 14, where I properly invested in some professional software and hardware.

    3. What type of influence or style do You try to incorporate into Your music ?

Will Atkinson: Orkney - my home-ground - has a big impact on the tunes I'm producing at the moment. The lifestyle, scenario and people/friends up there all relate to the material I create (or remix) - music's only half of it. I also can't stand weak, softly produced music, so I always like to keep my projects full & upbeat, with a ridiculous amount of tracks.

    4. What artists You have used to work with or else You want to work with ?

Will Atkinson: I have been working a lot with Nick Callaghan lately, and we have really started to find our sound together - there's some exciting tunes in the pipe-ling definitely. In the future, there are plans of a "Mac & Taylor vs. Will Atkinson" project and it would be really cool to work with someone outside the Dance scene, like an Irish or Gaelic folk singer. I think that would add even more motivation and passion into the production of the song.

    5. In Your personal point of view, is EDM going in the right direction ?

Will Atkinson: Personally I feel the scene is turning rather saturated with the same 'Tech into Breakdown back into Tech' layout. The sound is something I feel passed along time ago to be honest, which is why I'm beginning to incorporate more uplifting vibes into my tracks. My forthcoming releases this year will reflect that.

    6. What producers do You see moving towards Platinum status ?

Will Atkinson: I really admire producers like John O'Callaghan, Bryan Kearney and Sean Tyas. Full individual effort into each and every track. Something which will be fully credited very soon I'm sure.

    7. How did You come up with this name for one of Your latest tracks, called "Norway" ?

Will Atkinson: The vibe of 'Norway' is very pure I think. The track has a coldish, sombre breakdown, but balanced out by the warm sort of a big-room electro percussion I have going on. Guess it paints my very picturesque image of Norway!

    8. What was in Your mind when You made this track "New Day Rising" ?

Will Atkinson: This is a remix I recently did (about 8 months ago actually) of Nick Callaghan's original. The track, as the title suggests is really upbeat and comforting for me. Tomorrow is always a new day no matter how much shit you have been through! I was glad to apply my own sound on the track, and give it some full on, uplifting treatment! Should be out soon on Phase 7 - thanks to all those have been enquiring about it!

    9. With so many tracks nowadays, When will we see a new artist album ?

Will Atkinson: This is a bit complicated at the moment - something I need to sit down and think about. As my sound continues to develop, tunes I create for an album 6 months ago go stale, compared to current stuff - I would want an album which I know I can't really better with 100% effort, rather than a "this track can go on yeah" situation. Next year will see me finally solely focusing on an album!

    10. What is Your relationship with Judge Jules ?

Will Atkinson: I like to think Jules as my professional connoisseur! He has always been one of the biggest influences for me, and is actually the Dj who inspired me to try my hand at the whole scene some 10 years back! Met him at an underage event in the local club in Orkney when I was 13-14. From there he has pushed and offered invaluable advice regarding my tracks. I'm 19 and he is still a huge factor to do with my progress - truly genuine, enthusiastic guy. Got a lot of respect for him.

    11. With such huge support from all top EDM Djs and Producers nowadays, have You thought to bring them up in Your studio to get a track with them, one by one ?

Will Atkinson: It would be great to hook up with producers who have created life-changing tunes for me. People like Simon Patterson, Carlo Resoort, and David Forbes are producers I would love to work with. This is something I would really like to do in the future given I continue to establish my name on the Trance scene.

    12. Anything You want say to Your fans out there, especially the TranceSound.net community reading this interview ?

Will Atkinson: I would like to thank my mates, mental family and genera people that appreciates my sound who have at times, given me the energy to stay in the scene and keep plugging. Those who are generally into the 'Atkinson' sound are legends haha. And thank you, yes, you, for reading this interview. Cheers everyone basically, haha.
