Interview with Saint Rush    ( 14th of June 2009 15:30 GMT UTC )

Interview with Saint Rush
    1. Who were your main influences coming up ?

Saint Rush: I was listening a lot to Ferry Corsten and Tiësto, I still do.. well one more than the other ;) Also, I get a lot of inspiration from watching movies and listening to classical music.

    2. How did you get in touch with Zirens for one of the most captivating track of the summer "Shine on me" ?

Saint Rush: That's nice of you to say, thanks a bunch. The girls used to play my stuff frequently in their Cat n Bex Sessions radio show, so they contacted me about doing a tune together, since they thought our sound would blend well, and it did. What a great experience.

    3. Fair enough, I know about "Shine on me", thanks for sharing, but what can You tell me about "Nothing like U" ?

Saint Rush: That track went through quite a lot of transformation. But I knew that I wanted to make something a bit rougher that my previous stuff, I think it turned out pretty well. The Solarscape remix really blew my mind, that guy is so talented, it's sickening.

    4. What do you think about the support You receive so far, I bet You are happy with the massive promotion from Armin van Buuren and not only ?

Saint Rush: Yeah for sure! Im super grateful for every bit of support.

    5. How do You feel about the status of EDM lately ? Where do You think we are at right now ?

Saint Rush: More into Rock (Rocktronica) or anything else ? I think EDM is getting wider as a genre, meaning you can almost do whatever you want. So I wouldn't want to put a label on it, I would just say that its evolving.

    6. When You look at Your career now, at the point Your at, what are You most proud of ?

Saint Rush: I am not sure, no specific point really, I feel proud every time someone plays my music or just comments on it. Oh.. and my first ASOT play.. yeah that too :P

    7. I have seen that under Your second alias, as Ishido, one of my old times friend, Michiel de Jong made a remix of Your latest track called "Twenty Two", please share with me, how did You guys know each other ?

Saint Rush: I am not sure, but I think we met through MySpace, I will have to ask Michiel, I bet he's got a better memory than me. Michiel is a great guy, loved his remix of 22. He did an awesome job. Of course the Wanrooy remix kicked some serious ass too.

    8. In terms of production, who all did You work with, and who would You like to work with now ? What EDM producers coming up are You feeling ?

Saint Rush: I haven't had a chance to do too many collaborations yet, but I am working on it as we speak, but yeah, I worked with Zirenz as you know and then I worked with Italian producer Amex on the track "Distant Worlds", you may remember the Carl B remix, that certainly got a lot of attention. I also worked with Norwegian producer FKN and Amex again, on a vocal tune called Starlight, not released yet by the way. There's a lot of artists I would like to work with, Mike Saint-Jules is one, Solarscape, Leon Bolier and Sied Van Riel would also be cool. Their stuff is excellent. And of course there's a lot of female singers I would love to work with, and Im going to contact them all one by one, so look out ;)

    9. What are You listening to these days, what is in Your iPod ? Your top 10 songs ?

Saint Rush: Sasha's Invol2er album, he's a genius, not much else to say.

    10. Where or when can we see You perform ? Are You doing an appearances or anything for the fans ?

Saint Rush: As you may know I ended my radio show "The Rush Hour" on Afterhours a while back. I didn't really have the passion for djing. I figured I better stick to producing, at least for a while. I want to focus a bit more on producing and maybe throw djing back into the mix later on again.

    11. What else can we expect from You in the near future ? Any upcoming tracks, remixes or future projects ?

Saint Rush: I am working hard on some new Saint Rush originals, and some exciting collaborations. Plus we got "FKN vs Sun movement Feat. Juliette Bertin – Starlight" track coming out on Afterglow soon. Later on we are going to work on the follow up to "Shine On Me" for Armada Music. So lots to come, I assure you.

    12. Alright, so far so good, that's all I have to ask. Thanks for taking the time for this exclusive interview with TranceSound.net, any last words mate ?

Saint Rush: Thanks for a great site and thanks for having me! Cheers!
