1. Since You are a living inspiration to some of the guys I know producing nowadays, who would You say have been your musical inspirations ?
Marcel Woods: That was always music in general, but I always loved the way Marco V sounded.
2. You reach a lot of youth through your music, so what message do you want them to take away from your music ?
Marcel Woods: That with a small amount of talent but a good focus and a lot of time and willing to pull this off you can achieve a lot!
3. You have worked with so many names in the past, but tell me about the future, what artists would you like to work with ?
Marcel Woods: No one in particular really. Maybe some collaborations will happen, but its not essential for my music output.
4. You have had a long and successful career, what have been some of your most notable accomplishments ?
Marcel Woods: I would say my career in general. Whenever I am invited to play somewhere I am happy that I can do this job, play my music and sometimes just as unbelievable, I get paid to do it!
5. What can you tell me about Mr Rowan, what happened to him lately ? I haven't seen him a lot around nowadays :)
Marcel Woods: Ha ha… I'm done with all the pseudonyms…
6. You have a track called "Beautiful Mind", please share with us, what inspired you to write it ?
Marcel Woods: Well I did not write the vocal myself, but when I got sent the vocals I loved it and wrote the track around it. Not much romance in it huh?!
7. You know... I always liked people with a sense of hum our and also with positive attitude, so please tell me, what was in your mind when you penned "Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolates" released on High Contrast Recordings back in 2008 ?
Marcel Woods: I heard some table tennis sounds in it: pik pok pik pok pik pok… and that reminded me of Forrest Gump and so the title was born! It's also quite fitting for my sound, as you never know what style you will get from one Marcel Woods track to the next J
8. Speaking of that, another track, but this time called "Don't Tar Me With The Same Brush" and "Get The Kleenex" released on High Contrast Recordings a year before, in 2007 - is this your black humor again ? :)
Marcel Woods: Yup, "Don’t Tar Me", is more like "don’t put me in a corner", or "don’t tell me I’m trance or house DJ or a hard or a soft DJ"! Just don’t tag me! "Get The Kleenex" was the patch sound name we used in the track.
9. A very nice person that I know, her name is Zaneta (Soroko) Ortiz, the TranceSound.net Co-admin went to Love club in NYC on 16th of May, she also took some pictures of You and Simon Patterson having a proper show, rocking the floor down there. What kind of playlist did you play for the US crowd ?
Marcel Woods: Some deep and raw stuff combined with some Woods productions blended all together in a Musical Madness bowl ;-)
10. I know that on 27th of June this year you will be attending a party along Bas & Ram in Utrecht, Holland. What's your relationship with the guys ?
Marcel Woods: I know the guys for a long time and I really like their attitude, they always worked really hard to achieve things and they had a pretty successful career, so that’s why I want to be there on their last joint gig together.
11. What are your main upcoming gigs this summer around world that you're looking forward to ?
Marcel Woods: Phew! That’s a hard task, so many gigs, a lot of crazy outdoor events in Holland but I always look forward to Ibiza.
12. What does the future hold for Marcel Woods ?
Marcel Woods: In September my new musical madness CD will see the daylight, and just recently my new single is released called “Inside Me” which is doing very well in playlists and download charts.
13. We are nearly coming to an end of this exclusive interview, so is there anything else You would like to share with the TranceSound.net readers to make them the first to know ?
Marcel Woods: Yes that you have to embrace life and enjoy every minute of it. It’s something people take for granted sometimes. Wise enough, but not the first person who is telling this I guess ?
