1. Your forthcoming album has been already announced. What can You tell me about it ?
Filo & Peri: It's a very exciting time for both of us and we have been looking forward to the release of our album titled "Nightplay" for quite a while. It represents about two years of work and covers all our favourite styles of trance and progressive music. We've worked very hard to find the perfect balance of trance vocals and hard hitting club thumper! Musically, its the best work we have done to date and after speaking to lots of fans on tour throughout the world, they seem to agree!
2. What's the biggest difference between this new album and Your debut track ?
Filo & Peri: There's actually quite a few tunes on the album which take things right back to where we started--pretty and melodic. The album is a mixture of our favourite styles that we produced over the last 5 years.
3. In addition to the Vandit record, are there any other highlights ?
Filo & Peri: Personally there are several highlights on this album. First off is the trance power ballad called Soul and the Sun. It's a deep song that focuses on "Revelation". When we sat down together and wrote the song, we thought about all the difficulties people face in every aspect of life. From there we created lyrics about overcoming impossible circumstances and it's a very special song to us and Eric. Another highlight on the album is the club thumper Amp'd Up. It represents the exact style and sound we play most in our club sets--PURE ENERGY! Finally, the other highlight for us is the house anthem Back into our lives. Its a club record that lyrically focuses on relationships and about bringing the sparks that originally ignited them back into people's lives.
4. New single and video, "Ashley" due out soon ?
Filo & Peri: October 29th!
5. When is the second track of album to be released and what would be that one ?
Filo & Peri: The second single is Soul and the Sun and will be released sometime in December or early January.
6. Tell me how this whole album thing first jumped off for You ?
Filo & Peri: The creation of our album was a winding journey full of obstacles to overcome We were almost done with the first version of 'Nightplay' a year and half ago. During the final stages our entire studio burned down and we lost all of our work - it was devastating. We were out of commission for three months until things could be re-built and during this Domenick was diagnosed with a rare tumour on his voice box that had to be surgically removed. The case was published in many medical journals but thankfully everything went ok! We had to stay positive and work our way back - day in and out. Everything happens for a reason and this twist of fate motivated us to create another even better album. There's something here for everyone; from mainstream listeners to the hardcore clubbers.
7. What has given You the staying power to remain a recognizable force in EDM ?
Filo & Peri: Love for the music and motivation! Without it, its impossible to succeed in this business. Its what has kept us going through a lot of difficult times in the last few years! Its also the best advice that we can tell up and coming producers too!
8. What do You guys like to do when You are not making any music at all ?
Filo & Peri: We both have very different interests. In just a few sentences, Bo is a "get out there and drive as fast as you can kinda guy," where as I am more of a "slow it down and get there when I get there kinda guy" :-)
9. What has been the biggest moment for You career-wise ?
Filo & Peri: The biggest moment of our careers was for the first time playing along side one of our inspirations for getting into dance music-Mr Paul van Dyk. Another really important moment of our career was the day we finished the last few notes of our debut artist album. The feeling is really hard to describe. A sense of finishing one of the most important things in your life and getting the opportunity to present it to the world! It really is hard to beat that!!
10. Besides this amazing debut album, What exactly does Filo & Peri have in store for the future ?
Filo & Peri: Lots touring and we've already started another round of releases in the studio!
11. With so many amazing album from various artists nowadays, how do You view the current state of EDM ?
Filo & Peri: It's growing at a faster rate than it ever has been and with good reason! The quality of music is getting better, the events and festivals are getting bigger and reaching more people! A lot of people say that the business is getting smaller and we just don't agree. While the record industry is surely getting smaller, the music business as a whole is getting bigger!
12. This weekly show of Yours, the "Big Room Sound" made a big buzz within EDM lovers, share some thoughts on that please.
Filo & Peri: It's just a great opportunity for people to listen to our DJ sets outside of the club and an opportunity to provide fans with a soundtrack for their daily lives!
13. With several top notch tracks, with huge support from major artists, with Your name listed to one of the biggest gigs around the world, with so many labels that would like to get Your attention, what's next in the world of Filo & Peri ?
Filo & Peri: What's next? Continuing to make music for the love of it! It's really that simple!
