1. Thinking that You are so active nowadays, do You remember Your earliest exposure to EDM ?
Adam Nickey: Everything started in my small room. I was making some music for fun. One day I felt that I would like to share some of my music with other people. Several years later I got my first release. I was really REALLY proud of that. I created tracks like "Beyond Doubt", "Andromeda", and than "Perfect Destiny". That’s how I am in this music "business".
2. For people that haven't had the chance to listen to Your productions nowadays, how would You best sum up Your sound ?
Adam Nickey: I can't explain it just like that. Every track is different but one think is always the same. My tracks are not only for 5 minutes to listen. Till today I am receiving e-mails like: "Hey man, love your 'Never Gone' or 'Perfect Destiny', I can’t get enough". There is something in it and I agree with that. I was working on those tracks long time and every one track has a part of me. It's a mixture between Uplifting Trance and Progressive sound. When I was starting to produce music I was fascinated about the piano sounds. Every track needs to have some piano sounds. I love it till today.
3. When it comes to Your music, I always say "this guy has something to say, something inspiring". Now please tell me who are some of Your musical influences ?
Adam Nickey: The biggest inspiration is everything around me. People, problems, fun, pain... everything what life could bring. I am just a normal guy with my own problems so everything depends of my mood when I am at the studio. As I said every track has a part of me so just listen to it and you will know what I am talking about.
4. I know that Your discography is quiet impressive I would say, but production-wise, who did You work with so far ?
Adam Nickey: Basically I am working alone at studio but I have one full vocal track created with Tiff Lacey. It was great cooperation. Some tracks like "Shift" or my new one "In Motion" have small vocal parts. The vocal comes from singer Danny which I was working on other track. Unfortunately the track wasn't so good for release and we agreed to use it as addition to my other track.
5. Speaking of that, are You working on any guest appearances ? If not, who would You want to collaborate with ?
Adam Nickey: Yes, I am working on a new vocal track with someone but can't tell you till I finish it in 100% so I just finished new track with Nitrous Oxide and it's our first collaboration. We know what we want to achieve in production so it goes really fast. Keep your eyes open for this one !
6. What are some of Your other goals and plans in entertainment ?
Adam Nickey: My goal is making music as long as possible. I would like to keep this level and if I do that, everything will be fine.
7. In terms of production, what can You tell me about one of Your latest remixes of "Oceania - Lost Horizon" ?
Adam Nickey: Yeah, I received this request last year. When I heard this track for the first time I knew that this one had potential. I knew that it had to be Uplifting Trance sound and it worked. I love the piano there. It was really big fun working on this one.
8. Receiving a huge and massive support from top notch Djs nowadays, are there any plans to work with any of them in the future ? If so, who are them ?
Adam Nickey: To be honest I do not think about that. There are so many of them. Think there will be time for more collaborations in the future. I don't have an agency behind me so every year I have to prove where's my place in EDM (Electronic Dance Music).
9. I know a track of Yours along Tiff Lacey called "Letting Go". Please tell me the story behind it. What was in Your heart an mind when You made this wonderful track ?
Adam Nickey: As first I created the "Caracas" version. Thought that was very deep progressive track and I needed vocal. I contacted Tiff and after small chat we decided to finish this track together. She wrote the text and I was overjoyed. I had to do everything I could to present this piece of work, that's why I made several versions. It wasn't easy because of earlier release "Perfect Destiny" as Adam Nickey and it's massive respond.
10. I was always carried away by the name of Your show "Trance Experience" since the TranceSound.net's slogan it's "A New Trance Experience", why this name for a show ?
Adam Nickey: My "Trance Experience" show isn't only random trance music set. Every month I pick the best tracks which I receive from promo-pool. I don't care about the name of the artist. I am focus on the music. The tracks needs to have something special. There are no coincidences. It's like journey. Just close your eyes and listen... Experience the music.
11. What else You can tell me about Your show, any special guests in the past ? what's the show's criteria and its mission ?
Adam Nickey: On "Trance Experience" show I am presenting only my favorite trance/progressive tracks, because the show is only 60 minutes long there is no time for guestmix. In the past I invited Jennifer Rene and Daniel Kandi for the special anniversary episode.
12. Would it be fair to say that You are happy with the current state of EDM ?
Adam Nickey: Well, I am trying to do what I really love to do. The Trance music is changing and I can't stop that. It's normal. Last year I was not sure which direction it took. On one of the Anjunabeats gig I have met Super8 & Tab. I remember the words which one of guys said “Don’t look around to much. Do what you really love to do. Enjoy the music and don't think about the labels."
13. Same like everyone else, You are also using an alias, Kai del Noi, why the name, what's the meaning behind it ?
Adam Nickey: That's right. In the past I was using Kai alias for more classic trance sounds. I remember when I made a track in 2003 and I thought "That's something new". Time to go out from my small room and move on. I had to invent the alias... something original and it was the first official nickname which I created for releases in Poland. Besides that it means nothing if you looking for translation hahaha
14. Any latest news in terms of future projects, new releases, new compilation appearances ?
Adam Nickey: Yes, my double single "Callista" and "In Motion" at Anjunabeats, at the end of this month. Also appearance on Anjunabeats volume 7 and one new collaboration like I said earlier. There are several remixes on the way as well. Finally it will be very hot second half of this year for me. I can't wait to see the reactions.
15. Speaking about that, I have seen Your name listed on Conspiracy presents Introspection, compiled and mixed by Jon O'Bir himself, what can You tell me about it ?
Adam Nickey: Yes, I heard about that but unfortunately I didn't had opportunity to listen to it. Anyway good to see it there
16. Before we finish this amazing exclusive interview, are there any notes or final statement that You would like to share with the TranceSound.net members or anyone reading this interview ?
Adam Nickey: Sure !!! Always be yourself and don't change your way if you think it's right. Sometimes a little, single thing could bring you really big something. Thank you for supporting me guys !!
17. Thank You very much for Your time in having this exclusive interview, but my last question would be: How would You feel about being invited to the 4th annual event, called TranceSound Festival around late September, early October ?
