Interview with Tiff Lacey
    1. Hi there Tiffany, how are You now and how`s the 2008 treating You so far ?

Tiff Lacey: I am very well thank you, how are you? 2008 has been busy and in my whole career I can say I`ve never been as busy as this year, and it`s only March!

    2. What`s good with You these days Tiffany ?

Tiff Lacey: Life is good. I have a beautiful healthy child and wonderful husband. That is the best thing anyone can ask for.

    3. How did You get into EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and when ?

Tiff Lacey: I demoed a song for a producer I was working with in 2002 which happened to get taken up by Mr Paul Oakenfold. After that it was EDM all the way!

    4. You have done a lot for EDM worldwide and it seems like having a great appreciation to al EDM lovers, including me, for example but then again, do You have any stories that stick out in Your mind of how fans reacted about Your music ?

Tiff Lacey: I don`t really feel I`ve done a lot for EDM Worldwide, sometimes I feel I am just starting out which is mad as I have been in the scene for so long now but every song seems fresh and I try to give every tune something extra. I have had some really wonderful comments on MYSPACE and on the forum that Djs Solidbase and Synerje run. When people say that my lyrics or a vocal has changed their life for the better it makes me feel blessed. I may not be rich and famous but I have still managed to touch someone and often from a part of the world I have never seen ? that is a gift to me.

    5. Looking to Your discography lately, I assume You are very busy nowadays, but please tell me what are You up to right now, anything new You are working on ?

Tiff Lacey: I never stop. Writing is very much part of my daily routine. Now I have a baby it is more difficult to just stop what I am doing and go into the studio so my time is precious when I am in there. I love getting a track and just feeling it and seeing what comes out, lyrically or vocally. It is quite an organic process for me. For the moment, I have about 20 tracks waiting on toplines. I can not say for who as I am a bit superstitious so you will have to wait and see!

    6. You have music in Your blood line, I can easily see that thou, but I would love to find out what makes You one of the best female top vocalists out there, what inspires You the most ?

Tiff Lacey: That is a really lovely compliment, thank you. Everything inspires me. My baby and my husband. When I was younger, I used to write really morose lyrics, I think because I had no experience of life. As you travel along, there is so much to arouse and motivate. From the simplicity of rainy day to a heart stopping newsreel.

    7. How did Your deal with E:Mortal for the "Coming home" come about ?

Tiff Lacey: Fred is a fantastic musician and producer. We met via the forum (www.tifflacey.co.uk/forum) and he happened to send me one of his tracks, "Without Love", I had never heard anything so beautiful in my life and of course I asked him if I could write over it. We have a whole album of tracks now and I am hoping that by the end of 2008 that will see its release out and about in the usual places.

    8. What is "Fall into the moon" about ? Who wrote it ? As You look to capitalize on Your role with Luke Terry are You conscious of type casting ?

Tiff Lacey: "Fall into the Moon" ? music written by Kopi Luwak and Luke Terry, lyrics and vocal arrangement by Tiff Lacey. "Fall into the Moon" is about reaching for something that perhaps will never be yours. If you look at the moon`s reflection in a lake, it would seem that you could touch it, but when you try, you just fall into the lake, you fall into the moon, and in the case of this song, it is about wanting someone who cannot reciprocate your feelings, an unrequited love.

    9. How is it working with names like Lost Witness, also, the well known, Andre Tannenberg aka ATB, Flash Brothers, Super8 and Dj Tab, Matt Darey and also Don Jackson, a collaborator in Headstrong project ?

Tiff Lacey: It is nice to be associated with such big names. Luckily with all of them I was approached rather than having to go looking for the work. Back in 2002, I travelled and met people, Matt Darey, Andre (ATB), Si Paul (Lost Witness), but these days I very rarely get out of my own studio and although I have had long conversations and lengthy emails, I have never met Don (Headstrong) nor the Flash Brothers which seems really weird.

    10. Please tell me more about Your Electro-Pop project, Rubikon, alongside Huw Williams.

Tiff Lacey: Rubikon was created in 2006 with Huw Williams. Again, another project where I have never met Huw. We talked once on the phone the rest of the time is via email. Everything was written this way too, which I find amazing. I like working on my own a lot of the time and Huw just sent me the tracks to write over so 30 tracks later, we cherry picked the 12 best for the album "Wonderland" and the project was done. "Adore", was the first single, "WKO (Why Keep On)" followed by "A Thing Called Love". "Telephone" is due for release later in this year.

    11. For the female vocalists and the female artists what are the top three things they need when they try to make it to the top ? What do You think ?

Tiff Lacey: Never give up. If you truly think you have what it takes then just keep plugging away. Never take any notice of idiots that tell you have to do certain things in order to get on. Most of them are just out for what they can get. Have faith in yourself and be true to yourself. Don not sing something that makes you feel crap. Most importantly, enjoy yourself.

    12. Have You got anything else to say to all the TranceSound.net members or anyone reading this exclusive interview ? :)

Tiff Lacey: Thank you very much for reading this interview. I hope you like my music and continue to listen. Please drop by the forum and say "Hello" it is always nice to hear what people have to say and you may make some nice new friends along the way. Thank you Cosmin for your hard work in taking the time to put this interview together.
