1. You have been producing on trance and progressive music for over several years. What surprised you the most ?
Bobina: Now I really surprised that 'stampy' productions started to work! If you look on the scene - now a lot of producers started to make basically "all the same" in their productions. That is what really makes me sad. What is the point to use same drums, same bassline etc in all your productions, remixes ?? I will never understand this. It is beginning of the end in my opinion. Only that is why a lot of people became bored of trance music and start to listen to another style. And same for me by the way. In clubs I still play trance - as it is emotional but my new album wont be that trance...
2. A lot of people, younger teenagers especially, probably are not all that familiar with Bobina. They don't realize you are a veteran in trance and progressive. As a youth in dance music, what artist or person inspired you to want to be an artist ?
Bobina: Well, my first release was only in 2004! So I dont feel like a veteran I decided to be a trance producer, Dj after I heard Armin's set long time ago. So he brought me into trance.
3. What was the experience of doing the Trance Energy 2007 show like ?
Bobina: It was the best party I ever played! I really enjoyed everything!!! Oh.. will never forget this, thanks a lot to ID&T and to all the people who came to Trance Energy!!! Was amazing!
4. Back to the music, this new record 'Bobina - Lighthouse' with Elles De Graaf seems to be like a rebirth of sorts in terms of getting back on many people's trance radar, tell me more about it please.
Bobina: "Lighthouse" became probably the most succesfull trance record in Russia (lets say second after PPK "Resurection"). It was Top40 for pretty long time here and has over 40000 broadcasts on Russian main FM stations which is unbelievable for trance tune in Russia. From another side.. for me it is not that trance as well. Sean Tyas remix, it is trance, I still play it in clubs. Original is too soft for club music in my opinian.. but I never care about it when I do my productions... I just heard the voice.. and had a feeling that would be better to make more soft sound.. That is how I feel.
5. I know this is kinda late, but this is the first time I am having the chance to have the interview with You, but tell me how does it feel to be the 215th first Russian Dj according to DjMag.com for the 2006 ?
Bobina: To be completely honest with you, I dont really care about this chart! This year was really funny when they in fact told ourselves that all previous years, everybody can do votes for themselves using hackers etc etc. (I mean the story with Christopher Lawrence, Flash Brothers and Dj Dan!). After they got disqualified this year, who will believe that last year they got their places HONESTLY ?? No one! Also funny.. if you dont like Dj X from Top10 (for example!!) then next year you can simply pay to Chinese hacker.. he will "add" him 100000 votes and DJMAG will drop this Dj from the top! And if they wont do it... then there will be a question "Why they disqualified Christopher Lawrence last year.. and decided not to do this with Dj X this year??" I think it wasnt right decision for sure, to drop from the top the deejay who for sure has a lot of honest votes as well. I know that promoters still look at this chart.. but in Russia for example not to many promoters take care about DJ MAG.. they just book how they feel which looks like more correct for me. DJMAG it is a chart of management and marketing but not the chart of Dj's popularity! I know that Top10, is really popular Deejays.. and I respect them all.. but anyway if you book a dj from the top100 this doesnt mean you will get "sold out"
6. I know You have probably answered this kind of question a million times by now, but You know.. we got to ask this too. What do you say to people who would like to know and find out more on how Bobina made it so far to become what You`re at the moment, please tell us more about Your last achievements.
Bobina: Emm.. and who am I at the moment? Just a Deejay and producer from Russia! haha. Basically I advice everybody just go your own way and do what they like. Atleast I am always doing like this. Productions are basically a hobby for me... and that is why I do them only when have time, mood etc.
7. What does 2008 hold for you then, any future upcoming projects, that You would like to share with us now ?
Bobina: I almost finished my new artist album... it took me 1 year to produce it.. and few tunes I still working on, not satisfied with them at the moment. It will be released closer to summer 2008.. Also end of this year there will be a new single from Bobina and also doing some remixes..
8. Everything goes perfectly for You for the next 10 years. What is the end result, where You want it to end ?
Bobina: Hard to say.. but all these things like "I wanna be no. 1 in the world" are not for me to be honest. End of Bobina will be as soon as irealize that I dont wanna produce electronic music anymore (for me Bobina, is electronic music.. not only progresisive and trance.. you will hear it in my next album, I promise!) then maybe I will start to produce music for movies... maybe.. why not ? I am really happy guy, only because I never did something which I dont like and dont wanna do!.. and never will !
9. Any last words for the TranceSound.net members or for the ones reading this exclusive interview ?
